Who was Sandy?

Sandy, was our 20 pound scruffy terrier,
who was initially selected by the San Bernardino City
shelter for their adoption event,
at some point while getting ready for the event,
he nipped a caretaker who was working with him.

Sandy was subsequently isolated and quarantined
alone at that shelter for 10 days, in a dirty wet, dark kennel.
When we finally rescued him and brought him to San Diego,
we found a very frightened, terrified little guy.
A pup who needed some love, time and support.

Looking for that love, support and expertise, we hired
"Shelter Dogs To Dream Dogs" Catherine " Cate" Sacks in El Cajon, California.
This was based upon a referral and her website. We would later find out
this woman has no dog training credentials that can be verified.

While Sandy was with Sacks for 17 days we received these updates,
wonderful photos and You Tube clips showing amazing progress.
We were shocked that she had decided to have him killed behind our back
and then lie about it and try to cover it up for over six months.

When our foster decided she didn't want Sandy back after "training",
Sacks offered to continue to work with him. Emails here. We immediately
took over the communication with Ms. Sacks on June 6, 2014.
In her written emails, Ms. Sacks offered to make Sandy "her property"
and "help find him a home in the right way".

Cate Sacks states in the email on June 7th, "no guarantees"
but who could guess she would order him killed

Or who could guess that she would send fake progress updates about Sandy
for 2 weeks, then send a text message to inform us of his death on June 20th.
Complete lack of empathy or remorse.
All of the behaviors Ms. Sacks described
as the reasons for killing Sandy... "he was feral", "he was dangeous" "he bit me"
were never ever mentioned until AFTER he was dead for two weeks.

While Sacks was collecting money, he was making great progress.
The photos and movies she sent to us tell a different story,
Sandy was trying his VERY BEST to please her.
Instead she took him to Chula Vista shelter and had him killed for $15,
where they carried his little body out like trash.
